  • Back in Contact.

    Work has been good.

I'm beginning to understand the entire siding process.
We're waiting to start a house, it's going to be a showcase house.
    Lots of awesome details, hopefully.

My wife is so good to me.

    She makes radical clothes.
I think she makes me a better man.

    I've started painting again.
    Apple, carrot, and tomato.

I've been drawing a lot too.
Thought I would have more time to do this stuff, I'm still waiting for life to breath.

We went to Spokane on Saturday.
Bought an Annie Dillard book The Maytrees.
    Had some amazing sushi.
The Vanagon is running smoothly after a little investment.

    Driving to Portland on Friday.
    IKEA.
    Jesse and Elise.
    Wedding.

    Much love everyone.

  • Give them coats...

Alexis and I went to the Main Library in Portland yesterday and though the Art and Music sections were on the top floor, it was worth the three flights of stairs to see the mesmerizing book covers of Mr. Philip Smith. I'm going to give you a taste. Good, right? I love these covers mostly because they personify the book, the words inside are wrapped in this flesh-like creation, very cool. We're off to the Portland Museum of Art today because they have an exhibit on Rembrandt van Rijn and the Golden Age of Dutch Painting.

Dan, this is me telling you to move to Idaho.

  • Wedding, Honeymoon, Plane Crash.

The wedding was great even though I was kind of freaking out during the ceremony. The honeymoon is very cool. On the plane that we took to Portland, I thought for the first time ever that we would crash, not really for any reason. Great work Nate, you think you're going to crash in a plane on your honeymoon, that's a real  positive mindset. Can't wait to be in Idaho. Can't believe I left Pennsylvania.
I love you PA family, Dad, Momma, Jericho, Caleb, Gabe, Ethan Seth.

  • Done. Now to start again.

I'm finished with my classes at the Atelier. I will never return to Kennet Square as a student or single. It was a good last week, I had my portrait painted. Neil gave me the finished product. Then they threw a little party for me, I got a book that everyone in the school signed, a julian easel, and some other out of print manuscripts, all the Reilly notes as well as the New York Academy notes. Very awesome.

Hopefully I can study with other professionials, but it won't ever be the same as Neil.

  • This is awesome.

So this guy is pretty much word bomb. Neil will be working with him. Yeah that's right, Neil will be painting two 11' (height) x 2' (wide) images of modern saints for a Catholic Church in Wisconsin. Needless to say, this is awesome news. Is there a resurgence of sacred art? It may be too soon to say, but I certainly hope so.

EDIT* Neil told me yesterday that Mr. Visco draws, paints and sculpts from his head. This means he lights the figures in his head, this guy is awesome.
